Simple, Quick and Easy How to Replace the Steering Wheel Chevy or GMC Truck

What happens here

Before installing the new steering wheel, feed the horn wiring plug through the appropriate hole in the new steering wheel frame. Align the new steering wheel with the marks made on the steering column during the removal of the old wheel. Push the new steering wheel firmly onto the column. Then, reinstall the large central retaining nut by hand, and tighten it securely with the impact wrench. The steering wheel should be firmly seated and correctly aligned. Reconnect the airbag's yellow electrical connector to the airbag module, ensuring the small yellow locking tab is pushed down to secure it. Carefully position the airbag module back into its housing on the steering wheel, pressing firmly until it clicks into place. Finally, reconnect the negative battery terminal, ensuring it is tightened securely.

Goal: Mount the new steering wheel and reconnect all safety and functional components.
