What happens here

To prevent the water lines from freezing in cold weather, a hose bib at the lowest point of the system is partially opened to allow a continuous, slow flow of 55-degree pond water. This constant movement prevents ice formation. The overflow water from the hose bib is directed into a bucket to prevent erosion and then flows back into a nearby creek, ensuring no water is wasted.

Goal: Keep the water lines from freezing during cold temperatures.

Tools and materials

  • Bucket — Collecting overflow water to prevent erosion
  • Hose Bib — Controlling water flow for freeze prevention
  • Water Line — Transporting water from the pond
