Before initiating any spray painting, it is paramount to thoroughly mask off all adjacent surfaces that are not intended to be painted. As partially visible in the video, windows and other surrounding areas should be covered with plastic sheeting or masking film, securely fastened with painter's tape, such as the 3M brand tape visible around the windows. This prevents unwanted overspray from adhering to surfaces like glass, siding, or trim. Additionally, personal protective equipment (PPE) is critical when using an airless paint sprayer. The painter in the video wears a respirator mask, earmuffs for hearing protection, safety glasses, and protective gloves, highlighting the necessity of safeguarding against paint fumes, high-pressure noise, and skin contact with paint. Ensure you wear long-sleeved clothing and pants that can be discarded or are suitable for painting.
