sharing the standing experts um I heard you say just recently don't skip the grit so what the heck does that all mean well I've seen several times on a post that people will talk about going from like 120 to 320 or 120 to 220 and the rule of thumb is that you cannot skip more than one grit when you're sanding so if you're sanding with 120 your next grit can be 180 but you can't go over 180 you're not going to get the 120 grit scratches out and when I say that what I mean is that the 120 grit scratches are too deep for anything finer than a 180 to take them out and you have to take out each grid each scratch as you progress through burn it in your brain don't skip the grit
