This project provides a quick and effective guide on how to sharpen a shovel's edge to significantly improve its digging performance and reduce physical strain. It covers the essential steps of cleaning the shovel, identifying the correct sharpening area and angle, choosing between a hand file or an angle grinder (with specific recommendations for the latter), and performing the sharpening process. The video concludes by demonstrating the enhanced efficiency of a sharpened shovel in breaking up dirt.

Did you know you're supposed to sharpen your shovel and most people don't? Let's get after it. Before we start to sharpen, make sure you get all the dirt off your shovel. And you only want to sharpen the face of your shovel, and you only want to sharpen probably about from here to here, where the where the curve is. You're going to want to put about a 45° angle on the shovel. All right, now there are a couple ways to sharpen your shovel, either with your file or with your angle grinder. With your file, you only want to sharpen on the upstroke. [snorts] Now, angle grinder. Safety glasses. Go ahead and start. Start here. Just make your way up. I'm using an 80-grit flap disc for this. That seems to work the best. You don't want to take off too much material on a shovel, so you don't want to use a grinding disc, just a flap disc. And just like that, you want to put a nice edge on the shovel, but you don't want to raise the sharpen. You're not trying to shave your face with it, just break up some dirt. Let's go try it out. Just like that, we're chopping through dirt way better than we were before. Sharpening your shovel saves your back. Anyways, I got stuff to do, obviously. I'll catch you guys later. Peace.
