What happens here

This project provides a detailed explanation and demonstration of how to effectively use the depth gauge on a DeWalt plunge router. It covers setting absolute zero, adjusting for specific depths, utilizing the turret-style depth stop for incremental cuts, making micro-adjustments, and a practical application for matching the thickness of hardware like hinges or latches.

Do you know how the depth gauge works on your plunge cut router? If not, I got you. So, this is a plunge router because it can plunge into material. So, this is how you set the depth gauge. So, let's go ahead and let's plunge until your bit touches your work surface and loosen your depth stop. So, now with your depth stop loosened and your marker set at zero, this is absolute zero. Now, say you want to go you want to plunge down to a half inch. Loosen your depth stop. Bring it up to a half inch. Tighten it. Now, when you go over, you can plunge down to that half inch. You can set this at any increment you want. Now, a lot of them have a turret style. So, same thing. Go ahead and loosen your depth stop. Plunge until the bit meets your work surface. Each one of these steps is in quarter inch increments. So, we can lock that there. Set that at zero. We can come up and we can go down a quarter of an inch. And that'll drop a quarter of an inch. Now, we can turn it again and that'll drop a half of an inch. And we can turn it a final time and that'll drop 3/4 of an inch. Now, this screw right here, you can do custom settings and this bottom part of this depth stop moves as well for micro adjustments. Now, the biggest thing, if you're doing hinges or gate latches or whatever the case is, you can set this on your work piece, zero it out again, put your hinge or whatever in your turret, drop your depth gauge until it's snug, and tighten. Now, when you come up and you bring it over and you go to plunge, you're going to cut in the exact width of this. Anyways, I got stuff to do. I'll catch you guys later. Peace.
