Retaining Wall Installation
What happens here
Install a layer of 3/4-inch limestone base stone onto the compacted foundation, making sure it's level. This base stone should be compacted thoroughly. Following this, the first course of retaining wall blocks is laid on top of the compacted base stone. A critical aspect is that this first course needs to be partially buried. The exact depth of burial depends on the overall size and height of the retaining wall, but some portion of the base course must always be below grade to provide initial stability and prevent shifting.
Goal: Create a stable and partially buried base for the retaining wall blocks.
Tools and materials
- Compactor Machine — Compacting the base stone layer
- Retaining Wall Blocks Unilock — Forming the structure of the retaining wall
- 3/4-inch Limestone N/A — Creating a stable and permeable base layer beneath the first course of blocks
