What happens here

The user applies blue thread seal tape (Teflon tape) clockwise to the threads of the existing nipple protruding from the ground, ensuring about three wraps. He then uses his fingernail to press the tape into the grooves for a better seal. Next, he takes the new ball valve and the micro-irrigation adapter (drip emitter connection) purchased from the store. He wraps Teflon tape around the threaded end of the micro-irrigation adapter and then threads it into one side of the new ball valve, tightening it hand-tight. He then wraps tape around the other end of the micro-irrigation adapter and screws a cap onto it, making sure it is also hand-tight.

Goal: Apply Teflon tape to the threaded nipple in the ground and assemble the new ball valve and micro-irrigation adapter.
