PLUMBING TOOL REVIEW... Pencil Reamer

What happens here

Demonstrate an unconventional use of the pencil reamer for countersinking a pilot hole in a piece of wood. The user first drills a pilot hole through the wood with a power drill and a standard drill bit. Then, the pencil reamer is rotated inside the pilot hole, creating a small chamfer that allows a screw head to sit flush with the wood surface. This technique is presented as a workaround when a dedicated countersink bit is not available.

Goal: Countersink a screw hole in wood using a pencil reamer.

Tools and materials

  • Drill Bit — Creating the pilot hole
  • Power Drill — Drilling the initial pilot hole in the wood
  • Reed DEBZERO Pencil Reamer Reed — Countersinking the pilot hole in the wood

is if you i know it's a crazy scenario say you only had one size drill bit you didn't have a bigger bit to make a countersink or you actually didn't have a countersink bit then you could just take this you could drill a hole and you could take your pencil reamer and you could actually countersink with it you can get that hooked up and then your screw could actually just set flush right there i thought that was kind of a cool little trick too right it's just something else you can use this for i mean i'm just finding that this has come in so handy for odd little jobs
