[Applause] [Music] alright guys well mother nature is making this interesting we're gonna actually go and start talking about Forks now because uh Wow you'll see a lot of pay loaders running Forks but there are some do's and don'ts with Forks as well with that's Chris all right Chris Forks what's the biggest things you see guys doing wrong with Forks so mainly what I see is they'll little overload Forks yeah they won't they won't concentrate all the time while I'm getting the load focused back on the on the fork frame itself so maybe get it it'll have the center of gravity way out in the forks and then they're flexing away there so and sometimes you know maybe they can't they can't get it the way they need it to be but but really what they need to know is they need to be in touch with their fork provider or when they purchase the forks they need to be aware the maximum weight capacity of the fork times and kind of could use that as a guide because because one of the things that a lot of guys do wrong with porks is they assume that your forks can handle as much as your bucket right right right so your bucket has all this that much you know we're talking a fraction of the amount of steel so that that kind of that mindset kind of kind I get them in trouble as far as what they're used to carrying in a bucket versus what they think you know is possible with a set of four so yeah and so a broken time on these forks is expensive I mean we're talking about one of those times can we can go anywhere from 800 to a thousand bucks or more I mean we really depending on the style of forks to be getting the really heavy duty ones like our rock Forks we have a set of Rock folks down there that are really really think you're talking a lot of steel so steel costs money the more feel the more of the still treated so first up will you just point out one of the tines for me so I can presume this is a really slide on the frame this is your fourth great yep so you'd select the fork frame based on the type of tines are using so if you get heavy duty kinds you need to get a heavy-duty frame and vice versa now this is a general material fork isn't it yeah this is basically we call this our heavy duty for frame for like for like lumber and you know heavier pallet work there's different widths of time as well so the width really just deals with you know how wide your Lotus so though you want wider tines if you're gonna have a wider load so you have better balance can you show me the rock ports that you're talking about up there the rock Forks are made for what so if you see a lot of businesses or even in residential they build these big rock retaining walls to support material this is a really good good way to set them away a lot of guys who use an excavator and a thumb but this is another way to go about it these are I mean you can see they're really really really stout set a fork so they're designed to pick up boulders and set boulders we don't recommend using our set of regular Forks to handle something like this Oh guys do it but it's not the right application so one of the big don'ts don't use your Forks for the wrong thing because you're gonna bend them break them and it's gonna end up costing a lot of money the big the biggest thing when someone bends a fork so you're using it to move rocks and then when the forks are fed you try to go back under a pallet and one tines here you're done you're done you're done all right so let's hook up I'll show these guys how we hook into a set of forks both loaders today most OEMs have a quick coupler and racket as we call it basically inside the cab what you'll see is you'll see a button or two to unlock the coupler and you'll yield back out of it grab your other attachment relock and check and then you're on your way going over I'm gonna grab some cars I don't care about getting wet but I don't think my camera likes it [Music] so a couple things to be aware of when the transporting something like this we always want to make sure you know that your load security you secure the load properly and this instance if this were something that we're calling oil dry or anything worse you know any physics appears properly and you dump that nothing fun remember we want to concentrate on trying to get the pallet back or the load back focus so the bulkier center of gravity is focused on the machine next most of these machines out there always have like a ride control system or we call it boom suspension when you're doing for handling applications and you have like really really sensitive cargo you absolutely want to utilize that suspension system so you smooth out your ride you don't have the machine bumping around that load you know with the potential to shift while you're up I was gonna ask if you had that on when you were moving over it you were moving fast and that ride looked I mean I mean cargo would stay that fee so yeah it looked right looked really stable so that ride control is actually in lift arms there's an erect so we actually so basically it's it's it's spongy so it'll absorb the bumps the machine encounters and really cushions that load and keeps it stabilized so next I'll show you some some more of the exotic things we do we do have specialized sports for larger larger objects what I'm going to show you guys we use use really long like 16 17 foot ports for Auto handling applications so I'll drop this quick and I'll go put a set of them on and we'll make our way over to the cars over that way so when he comes over what I want you to look at I'm gonna try to concentrate on these spots right here because this is where you connect into and out of it's part of your attachment system these are the ports dude these things are massive I don't Leslie I've never seen a set of forks like that before again for special applications there are Forks out there you can see I've never seen them before basically we do have customers in like the Auto Auction field where they you know they auction cars off and this is basically a really easy way to transport the cars without doing any kind of significant damage also it's real stable I mean this it's like just right on the framework they say use that pretty Universal almost every car no but again these are I mean they're it's not something we'd handle brand new cars with these are cars that have been damaged you know it's all kind of like Auto Salvage type things three-fifty picked up for sure so you can go you know down to your smallest like your smallest car all the way up to a pickup truck and use these books this is for salvaged cars that means my challenger was picked up just like this that one and kill your own all right I'm gonna go over I feel when I see you drop a car off and pick the car up because I mean I didn't get to see that so I want to see that all right Chris I think the last thing I would add is if you know whenever we're traveling with forks you want to try to keep the low low and if we have empty forks we always want to keep the fork tines tipped up a little bit so minimizes the risk of them getting poked into something so just a couple of simple pointers as far as operating safety reports okay so you took those words back yeah we typical back so the signs are elevated same thing with normal high school I've made that mistake on a farm tractor I think I was like and my dad had Forks on the farm tractor and he just sent me out in the field and driving along with him just above the ground right no kids looking around going like that'll stop oh my god and I bent them Forks up you're right that's a great point tip him up when in doubt tip him up didn't rhyme you guys got a cooler saying put it in the comments down below all right let's it kind of big dog yeah do it did you the big guard okay guys in the next video in this series this is where we convince my wife who's never operated a payloader before today to crawl up and into the seat of a Volvo 350 this is a hundred and ten thousand pound machine empty that cost just a Braun a million dollars and we get her to actually run it so you guys are gonna go along for the ride and to see how this thing goes that's in the next part of this video series so make sure you guys stick her out and let me know what you think of this video series hopefully by the time you've gotten through all of these videos you feel a little bit more comfortable putting your butt into the seat of a payloader for the very first time that was the goal so I owe a big thank you to you guys for watching I thank you to my wife for being a happy guinea pig and a big THANK YOU to Volvo because if it wasn't for those guys guys none of these videos would be possible at all so do me a favor and thank them as well god bless you guys hope this has helped you out go get them
