PART 1: How to build a 2-tier retaining wall. #hardscape #retainingwall #howto
What happens here
A layer of geotextile filter fabric is then carefully laid into the compacted footing trench, ensuring it covers the bottom and extends up the sides. This fabric serves multiple purposes: it prevents the foundation stone (which will be added next) from mixing with the native soil, allows water to drain through while retaining soil particles, and adds an extra layer of structural reinforcement to the wall system.
Goal: Install a permeable barrier to prevent soil migration and aid drainage.
Tools and materials
- Geotextile Fabric — Separating soil layers, providing filtration and reinforcement
- Utility Knife — Cutting the geotextile fabric to size
