Painting an Accent Wall Quickly. Paint Different Wall Colors.

What happens here

After the initial lighter paint coat has completely dried (typically 1.5 to 2 hours), the next step is to apply Frog Tape along the desired line for the accent wall. The presenter emphasizes using Frog Tape because it "doesn't bleed" and effectively "seals the edges" for a sharp line. The tape is meticulously applied directly over the dried lighter paint, covering the approximately 1/8-inch overlap. Immediately after applying the tape, a thin bead of clear caulking, specifically Sherwin Williams 950A Clear Caulking, is applied directly onto the edge of the Frog Tape where it meets the wall that will receive the accent color. This caulking is then smoothed down with a finger to create a perfect, watertight seal.

Goal: Create a perfectly sealed, crisp line for the accent color.

into it. And now we can mask on to this area. And we use Frog Tape or 3M 2020 tape. Frog tape doesn't bleed. It's a nice product here that seals the edges. But we'll be taking once this color dries right here. We'll be taking our frog tape and we just be masking our line right here. This was about an hour and a half ago that we actually painted this overlapping color and it's already dried up at the paint sticks and we just mask a nice crisp line right there. And then we actually use Sherwin Williams 958 clear cocking and then we'll just coaul this tape right here to seal the tape off. And then we'll paint our cut in accent color right here. We'll pull our tape off and then we'll have a nice crisp line. We've got a wall right here that we're actually working on right here. And we're doing the cut ends right here. And prior to this paint actually drying, you're going to want to do your cut in all the way down and then pull the tape.
