Staining & Re-lacquering Interior Woodwork. Using Wood Stains.

the IDO painter. In this video, we're going to show you how we go about restaining and lacquering some interior trim work we have here. And it's got some nicks and dings on it. And we're going to go around and we're going to actually clean all this trim first with a Jasco TSB substitute. Then any nicks and dings that need to be lightly sanded, we're going to be using a 3M sanding sponge and just lightly sanding those nicks and dings. And then after that, we're going to be staining it with a Sher Williams BAC wiping stain that dries in about an hour. And then we're going to be going back and lacquering it all with a moisture resistant Sherwin's lacquer. And it's a medium rubber effect lacquer. And once we're all done, this trim will look brand new. This is a house that's about 20 years old with a stain and lacquer package that's been a little bit dinged up, nicked up, and just needs to be refreshed, lightly sanded, and restained and recotated so it looks new again. It's a simple process. Takes us about one day to do this process. The process includes masking everything off, staining with the BAC stain, letting it dry for an hour, and then clear coating it with the moisture resistant lacquer. Our first step in the process after masking was to clean all of our clear coat and lacquer trim with a Jasco TSB substitute. And that will del gloss the lacquer and also clean any contaminants off the lacquer. Then we're gone around with rags and Sher Williams BAC stain and restained all the trim to get rid of any nicks and dings to hide all those. And the BAC stain is going to dry for about an hour. And then we're going to go back and clear coat it with Sherwood moisture resistant lacquer medium rubbed effect. now applied our first coat of lacquer on our trim. The lacquer will dry in about 15 minutes.
