Nothing like using a heat gun on a 100 degree day! 🤣 #build #deckdesign #carpentrytips

What happens here

With the routing jig in place, position your composite decking or trim board onto the jig, ensuring it's properly aligned for the V-groove cut. Use a plunge router equipped with a V-groove router bit. Carefully set the depth of the V-groove bit; it should remove most of the material from the backside of the composite board, leaving only a thin layer (approximately 1/8 to 1/16 inch) on the front face. This thin layer will act as the hinge point for the bend. Slowly and steadily guide the router along the intended bend line, making a clean V-shaped channel. Always wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from debris.

Goal: Cut a precise V-groove on the underside of the composite material

Tools and materials

  • Composite Decking or Trim Board — The material being shaped into a corner
  • Plunge Router — Cutting the V-groove into the composite material
  • Safety Glasses — Protecting eyes from dust and debris
  • V-Groove Router Bit — Creating the V-shaped channel for the bend
