What happens here
With the site accurately marked, bring in the necessary heavy machinery, typically a compact excavator, mini skid steer (as shown in the video, with a Bobcat MT85 visible), or a specialized helical pile installation rig. This machine must be equipped with a hydraulic auger drive head (a 'Digga' brand attachment is visible) capable of screwing the piles into the ground. Carefully position the machine over the marked location for the first helical pile. Attach a helical pile (also known as a screw pile, with 'GoliathTech' branding visible on the product) to the auger drive head. It is crucial to ensure the helical pile is vertically plumb before beginning the installation to guarantee a stable and correctly aligned foundation. A person is seen guiding the machine and the pile to ensure accurate positioning.
Goal: Prepare the installation machinery and accurately position the helical pile for driving.
Tools and materials
- Hard Hat — Protecting the head from falling objects or impacts on a construction site
- Helical Pile GoliathTech — The primary foundation element being installed
- Mini Skid Steer Bobcat MT85 — Providing the power and controlled movement required for screwing the helical piles into the ground
- Safety Glasses — Protecting eyes from dust, debris, and hydraulic fluid splashes
- Safety Gloves — Protecting hands during machine operation and handling materials
- Spirit Level / Plumb Bob — Ensuring the vertical alignment (plumbness) of the helical pile during initial positioning and driving
- Steel-Toed Boots — Protecting feet from heavy objects, punctures, and crush injuries around heavy machinery
