What happens here

Carefully begin laying the large concrete or natural stone slabs onto the prepared sand bedding. Start from one corner or edge, typically closest to the house if building a patio. Place each slab gently onto the sand, avoiding dragging, which can disturb the leveled base. Use a rubber mallet to tap each slab into place, ensuring it is level with adjacent slabs and maintaining the desired slope. Use spacers if uniform joint lines are desired. The video clearly shows a long winding path and a large patio area already covered with these slabs.

Goal: Install all patio and walkway slabs precisely

Tools and materials

  • Knee Pads — Protecting knees during prolonged work on the ground
  • Level — Checking individual slab levelness and consistency with adjacent slabs
  • Rubber Mallet — Tapping slabs into the bedding layer for proper seating and leveling
  • Slab Lifter/Carrier — Safely lifting and moving heavy concrete or stone slabs
  • Spacers — Ensuring uniform joint widths between slabs
  • Large Concrete Slabs — The primary paving material for the patio and walkway
