My 90's Newell Coach: 7 Things I Hate..and 7 Things I Love! (6 Months of RV Ownership Thoughts)

What happens here

The owner, a tall individual, complains about the uncomfortable driving position, specifically that the accelerator pedal is too close to the seat and the steering wheel is excessively large, resembling a 'bus driver's steering wheel.' For a DIY enthusiast, this points to potential ergonomic modifications, such as relocating the pedal assembly or replacing the steering wheel to improve driver comfort and reduce fatigue on long journeys.

Goal: Identify and understand ergonomic issues with pedal and steering wheel placement for potential DIY modification.

Tools and materials

  • Adjustable pedal assembly Aftermarket — To move the accelerator pedal forward for more legroom
  • Basic Hand Tools Various — For disassembling and reassembling components during modification
  • Smaller steering wheel Aftermarket — To replace the oversized factory steering wheel for better ergonomics
