My 90's Newell Coach: 7 Things I Hate..and 7 Things I Love! (6 Months of RV Ownership Thoughts)

What happens here

The main entry door shows signs of delamination, a common issue in older Newell RVs due to water ingress compromising the wooden core. The owner mentions it's 'not a big deal' for him, but for a DIY owner, this indicates a significant repair project involving disassembly of the door, drying or replacing the core, and re-bonding the layers to prevent further damage and ensure structural integrity.

Goal: Repair door delamination to restore structural integrity and appearance.

Tools and materials

  • Adhesive — Re-bonding delaminated door layers
  • Clamps — Applying pressure during the bonding process
  • Woodworking tools — If the wooden core needs repair or replacement

it's a little bit of an issue if you're wondering i do have a video changing the oil on this generator on my channel from back in july or august so go check that out i have a whole playlist just for the newell so if you want to like binge out on newell stuff me wrenching on this thing go check that out now the seventh and final thing on my list of things i hate about this is how the main door delaminates um from what i've gathered on forums and stuff this is a fairly common problem with these older newels it's like it's a little bit like warped and you can see you know when people talk about the prevo dlam here's your new dlam it's just this the rest of it doesn't really doesn't do that but the door does as you can see it's just kind of you know it's a wooden door and apparently it got wet at some point i don't know exactly how but as you can see it doesn't really even up here it doesn't seal the right way because it's all like you know a little bit warped not really a big deal it's been like this since i got it it's just kind of how it is i'm used to it and the deadbolt is not in here because uh the original one was starting to like wear out it was getting hung up and i almost got stuck in here once so i took it out to change it and that's when you can see that the actual door structure is made of wood and this handle is kind of you know a little loose it's probably from like a 1977 caprice or something like that it is what it is i mean you pick your battles i knew this thing was 26 years old when i got it stuff like this is gonna do that really
