Modern Siding on Abandoned House. INCREDIBLE TRANSFORMATION! (EP.11)

What happens here

To ensure proper waterproofing around windows and doors, apply flashing tape. First, apply a continuous strip of flashing tape to the bottom sill of the window/door frame, ensuring it overlaps the house wrap below. Then, apply vertical strips of flashing tape to the side jambs, overlapping the horizontal sill tape. Finally, apply a horizontal strip of flashing tape to the top header, overlapping the vertical side strips. This layering technique allows any water that gets behind the siding to drain downwards and outwards, preventing moisture intrusion. Ensure all tape is pressed firmly to prevent gaps.

Goal: Seal window and door openings to prevent water intrusion.

rules of rules and we're here to follow them [Music] all right so here's the reason why it kind of didn't make sense to me well the drip edge goes on top of this flashing which I kind of get it and I kind of don't because there's still Nails on top of it maybe this stuff will prevent it from leaking through but the second reason it didn't make sense is I'd imagine this tape would be connected to the house wrap and attached to the metal here that makes sense in my head but that's not the order sequence they want us to go by so here we are [Music] if you do happen to run out of tape like I have here in a few radius spots you gotta apply the next piece kind of like you would with roofing shingles right bottom up so water can trickle down if it ever does get in there that's why the bottom tape goes on first and then the side piece is so it could trickle down over it once you learn Roofing I guess you learn flashing it's been a lot easier if I did the windows before putting the Tyvek you got to use the Noggin I didn't do it but you should you only got one might as well use it before it goes away see this is what I mean I would imagine this would be covering everything because yes everything is dripping off the pan not going on the wood with the waterproofing tape but then what happens when it trickles behind here I think what I'm going to do and I don't know if people really do this I'm going to put Tyvek tape over this so this five doesn't come off it's not really waterproof it's supposed to be holding the Tyvek to Tyvek together but it'll give it a little bit added support ah [Music]
