What happens here

This project provides a concise overview of four common methods for fastening metal parts: self-tapping screws, rivets, nuts and bolts, and rivnuts (threaded inserts). It demonstrates the application, characteristics, and typical use cases for each fastening type, highlighting their permanence and removability.

Not all metal fasteners work the same. So, let's get after it. First up, self-tapping screw. These are quick and easy. They cut and form their own threads as they go through the metal. But, if you keep taking them in and out, eventually, they're just going to strip. So, what if you want something more permanent? That's where rivets come in. Drill the correct size hole for your rivet, insert your rivet in the metal, and then squeeze till you hear it pop. And now you got a permanent connection. But, what if you need to take these apart? You'll have to drill through the head of your rivet. So, what if you want something easily removable? That's where a nut and bolt comes in. It gives you a strong, removable connection when properly sized. Just add your nut, and add your washer, and tighten down. And it's easily removable whenever you need to. But, what if you can't get to the backside? That's where rivnuts come in. They're reusable threads without needing access to the backside. Make sure that you match the thread to your bolt. Drill the correct size hole, insert your rivnut, thread on your rivnut tool, and squeeze the handle till it collapses. And now you got these threads that you can use over and over again. And there you have it. Four different ways to fasten metal, all with their own purpose. Anyways, I got stuff to do. I'll catch you guys later. Peace.
