Master Interior Painting. The Art of Touch-ups.

What happens here

For holes in textured walls (e.g., from nails), avoid overfilling with spackle or drywall compound, which can flatten the texture. Instead, apply a very small amount of spackle with your fingertip directly into the hole. Immediately wipe off any excess spackle from the surrounding textured area with your finger, ensuring the original texture is not filled in. Once the spackle is completely dry, apply thinned paint using the dabbing and dry-feathering technique demonstrated in the previous step. This maintains the wall's texture and blends the repair seamlessly.

Goal: This step shows the correct method to fill small holes on textured walls without compromising the texture, followed by careful paint application.
