Lay Down Drop Cloths

What happens here

After masking the trim and applying paper, lay down a painter's drop cloth on the floor. For maximum protection, especially if you have carpet, the presenter recommends using two drop cloths. One (a 4-foot by 12-foot runner) should be positioned along the wall you are currently painting, covering the masked paper and the adjacent floor area. The second drop cloth is for placing the paint pan and any other painting supplies on, ensuring that paint is never directly on the unprotected floor or a walking drop cloth.

Goal: Protect the entire floor area from paint spills and drips.
