What happens here

With the formwork securely in place, the concrete pouring can commence. For larger projects, a concrete mixer truck delivers fresh, ready-mix concrete directly to the site. The concrete is typically discharged through an adjustable chute, which workers guide into the formed area. Using shovels, concrete rakes, and hoes, the crew rapidly spreads the wet concrete evenly throughout the forms. The primary objective at this stage is to fill the forms completely, ensuring that the concrete is distributed uniformly and is roughly leveled to the top edge of the forms, preventing any large voids or low spots.

Goal: Fill the prepared forms with fresh concrete and roughly level it.

Tools and materials

  • Concrete Chute — Guiding the flow of concrete from the mixer truck into the formwork
  • Concrete Mixer Truck — Delivering large quantities of fresh, ready-mix concrete to the job site
  • Concrete Rakes/Hoes — Pulling, pushing, and spreading concrete more effectively than standard shovels
  • Shovels — Moving, pushing, and distributing concrete within the forms
  • Wheelbarrows — Transporting concrete from the mixer truck to the forms for shorter distances or when direct chute access is limited
  • Ready-Mix Concrete — The primary material that forms the concrete apron
