Loading our BROKEN excavator BLIND and BACKWARDS

What happens here

Due to the locked swing motor and inability to articulate the cab, the excavator must be driven onto the flatbed trailer in a straight line. This requires extreme precision, as the tracks extend beyond the width of the trailer ramps. The operator, Tim, relies solely on verbal guidance from Stanley and Blaine to align the tracks perfectly. Stanley emphasizes the critical nature of equal overhang on both sides to prevent the excavator from falling off the trailer during loading or transit. This process involves numerous small, careful adjustments and constant communication.

Goal: Safely drive the excavator onto the trailer despite the locked swing motor.

she's locked up she's locked the swing motor is locked up side to side this is going to get hairy all right let's be his eyes [Music] he can't see nothing now he's got to get this precisely lined up because each one of these tracks is going to go over the trailer each side of this machine hangs over on both sides so without being able to see he's got to get that lined up exactly right i don't think he's there yet no he's too heavy on this side hey blaine come on over here let's communicate with him he's too heavy hold him up he's too heavy on this side what do you think that looks about right right yeah we're about right all right so let me kind of explain what's going on with this situation with the swing motor frozen locked in place that means that we have no control over the cab of the excavator and typically what we would do is we would just rotate the cab around drive the excavator right up onto the trailer and if the excavator tries to go one way or another way we can actually use the cab to finesse the machine onto the trailer it's not really that difficult or a big of a deal but he's completely blind so he's trying to back up and he's got to balance both of his tracks equally off from the trailer because we have just about as much track on the trailer as we have off the trailer and if we go too far one side or too far the other side we can slide the excavator completely off from the trailer and so that's why i'm as nervous as a long tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs because i know exactly what tim is trying to do at this point he has no ability to finesse the machine because of that swing motor being out hope that clears it up a little you gotta go over that way about two inches time more more remember you gotta hang over both sides evenly [Music] he's not lined up with the trailer though he's not lined up straight with the trailer his machine is coming this way the trailers lined up this way he's trying to compensate so you yep see that see that yep yep yep straight up you're perfect right now as you're looking at tim right now he's probably in one of the most dangerous positions he can be in in an excavator the relatively safe machinery except when you get to a point where if this goes one way or the other way you want to make sure that you go you want to make sure that you go with it you never want to fall out of the machine in a case like this so if tim falls toward me in this excavator what we really want him to do is stay locked into…
