What happens here

The creator shows the welded Y-fitting, admitting that his aluminum TIG welding skills are rusty after two years. He notes uneven welds and explains that the arc jumped because he didn't tighten the caps on the fittings enough, leading to poor grounding. He emphasizes the importance of proper grounding in TIG welding. He mentions using the wrong rod or having low argon bottle pressure as possible issues for the poor welds.

Goal: Securely weld the custom Y-fitting and understand common welding issues.

Tools and materials

  • Aluminum Y-Fitting — Component being welded
  • Caps for Fittings — Protecting threads during welding and aiding in grounding
  • TIG Welder — Welding the aluminum Y-fitting
  • Argon Gas — Shielding gas for TIG welding

be as turbulent I haven't TIG welded aluminum in 2 years I forgot what settings work good on the welder pretty much just turned it on and let it rip I think this was t62 which I believe most of the yeah T6 most of the aluminum tube i' W for Turbo deal stuff is T4 I definitely had the wrong Rod or something cuz this thing just turned out like crap I mean this side looks okay that's ugly had a blowout there this side just looks terrible and I had to leave these caps on here cuz if you don't the ark will jump off the threads and melt the threads off but I didn't have them tight when I was doing this in case you were wondering and I could have just never showed it to you but I want to be honest you can see where the ark jumped off there right there and I think that's part of my problem is the ark would wander and melt something else like that whenever I would start it cuz I didn't have a good ground I had my oil feed
