I usually shy away from building curves in to decks, but incorporating curves in to a patio? Love it
What happens here
After a section of pavers has been laid and leveled, it's essential to compact them. Use a plate compactor, a specialized vibrating machine, to thoroughly compact the newly installed pavers. Run the compactor over the entire paved area multiple times, in different directions, ensuring all pavers are vibrated firmly into the bedding layer. This process locks the pavers together, increases their stability, prevents shifting, and creates a durable, even surface that can withstand foot traffic and weather.
Goal: Lock pavers into the bedding layer for stability
Tools and materials
- Hearing Protection — Protecting ears from the loud noise of the plate compactor
- Plate Compactor — Vibrating and settling pavers into the bedding layer, increasing stability and interlocking
