I Rented a $150,000 Bobcat Forestry Mulcher—Here’s What Nobody Tells You | DANGEROUS!

What happens here

When mulching large trees (e.g., 12-inch diameter), do not attempt to drive directly over them. Instead, use the mulcher's push bar to press against the tree, then curl the mulching drum into the tree's base from the top downwards. This grinds off the bottom section. Repeat this process, gradually chipping away at the tree from the top, until it tips over. Then, mulch the stump first before processing the fallen tree. For smaller debris (3-6 inches), tilt the head slightly backward to prevent material from being shot out from under the machine. For back-dragging, which performs most of the fine mulching, tilt the head forward to direct debris downwards. When clearing large areas, work in sections (e.g., 2 machine widths wide by 2 machine lengths long), thoroughly mulching each section before moving to the next. Avoid driving over unprocessed material to prevent track damage.

Goal: Apply effective and safe mulching techniques for various vegetation types.
