I REFUSE the CUSTOMERS request. Bomb shelter: FINAL chapter

What happens here

Using the Kubota skid loader, backfill the excavated trench with the previously removed soil. After filling, perform compression passes by driving the skid loader back and forth over the filled trench. This helps compact the soil and reduce future settlement. However, be aware that full compaction might not be achievable if the soil is frozen, as ice crystals can prevent proper soil settlement, potentially leading to sinkholes in warmer weather. This is why removing the pipe completely was deemed necessary.

Goal: Restore the site to its original grade and ensure soil stability.

all right so let's talk about backfilling and compacting frozen soil because there's kind of some information and opinions going both ways out there now our opinion is you cannot compact frozen soils because the crystal structure that's inside the soil doesn't allow the soil to fully compact so although you'll go through the process of compaction if you don't remove the frost out of the soil you can still have potential settlement in the spring so it's very critical that you make sure you understand your soils before you just go throwing things back in place that's my two cents
