How to use a masker. DIY painting, tape, and masking hacks. Using A Hand Masker

uh video, we're masking a window and we typically all of our masking film we use is 72 in 3M flake resistant masking film and we use that for everything and all of our jobs. We use 3M 2020 masking tape. Through all the years of painting, we've come to determine that 3M 2020 tape is the best tape that we like to use. And we use 1 in tape for just about everything we do. If you, we sometimes use inch and a half. That makes it a little bit easier to mask with if you um are just beginning and it'll give you a little more leeway on the sides to play if your masking film is cut too short. But I always use one inch on the masker and one inch to tape the sides with. So I got two rolls. I start off on the window. I'm always going to start off on the window. Attach the masking about a quarter of an inch from the edge of the window. Then I'm going to draw the master all the way across. When I get to this side, I want to look real closely. Make sure it's about work it till it's about a quarter of an inch from that side. Hold it tight and then snap and rip it loose. I'm going to pull my masking film down about halfway or so. And then I actually tack it on the window about about midway down the window. So you want to just tack it on both sides. And then I take run my use my hand to pull it back to make sure the w it's going to get tape on the window the whole way down. So if the film sticks over a little bit farther, I just pull it back. Tack it halfway down. Do the same thing to the other side. Tack it again. One more time. Almost close to the bottom. Not quite to the bottom. Then we just roll the masking film up underneath. And we'll tack that the bottom. Take a look at your window to make sure no vinyl is actually exposed. You can do any touchup with tape. If your lines are a little bit off, make sure all the way around there's no vinyl exposed. If there's little holes, you want to check to make sure there's any holes that could be actually leaks when you're actually spraying the house. Paint could actually leak through there. Once you're all done, rub your hand across the whole perimeter to make sure that it's all tacked down good.
