How to Talk Your WIFE into letting you buy a SAWMILL
What happens here
After the log is squared into a cant, adjust the sawmill's head height to the desired thickness for dimensional lumber (e.g., 2 inches for a 2x8). Power feed the saw head along the length of the cant, cutting off a board. Manually remove the freshly cut board from the mill bed. Repeat this process, adjusting the head height for each subsequent cut, until the entire cant has been processed into boards or beams. The video shows cutting 2x8s, 2x4s, and a large 4-inch beam. For longer and heavier pieces like the 16-foot beam, assistance is shown to manually remove it from the mill.
Goal: Convert squared cants into finished dimensional lumber and structural beams.
