How To Replace Garage Door Weather Strips. Home Energy Hacks.

What happens here

Position the new weatherstrip on a stable surface. The weatherstrip usually has pre-punched holes for fasteners. Take 1.5-inch galvanized flat-head nails and gently hammer them into these holes, just enough to start them and hold them in place. This prepares the weatherstrip for quick and easy installation onto the door jamb without needing to hold a nail while hammering from an awkward position.

Goal: To simplify installation, pre-start galvanized flat-head nails into the pre-punched holes of the new weatherstrip.

I'll take it back to make sure it's correct. So, this trim I get from my local hardware store actually has pre- punched holes where the actual nails go. And I like to actually just start my nails off uh down with the trim down and then I'll put it up and hammer them in. So, we just keep boxes of these inch and a half flathead nails in our van cuz we replace the stuff quite often.
