HOW TO REMOVE WALLPAPER. Wallpaper removal hacks. Removing Wallpapers No Steamer Needed.

This is Chris the Idaho Painter coming to you with some more simple, handy wallpaper tips. And right here we've got some wallpaper. Going to be using a steamer. Going to show you some handy tips of removing this wallpaper prior to using the steamer. And hopefully this will help your process go a little bit faster. If not, we got to break out that steamer and use a steamer. We're going to start here by just scoring this paper right here along our chair rail and our baseboard. and it's got a vinyl coating on top. And this vinyl coating, there's no way the wallpaper steamer, the steam can actually penetrate through that vinyl. So, you actually got to remove the vinyl anyways. So, we're just going to get underneath this now that I've scored it. And we'll start peeling it off. See, it just just like that just pulls right off. And that's all the way down to my drywall right there. Once again, we're going to be just scoring along here just in case that paper's up underneath this chair rail or actually behind that baseboard. So, we're going to score it first. That way, we get a nice crisp line along here and it's not torn and feathered up and down. Once I get it scored, just going to be using a putty knife so I can get underneath there and start my paper from coming off. Just another closer look. We're using just a snap knife. This is a razor knife and a putty knife to remove this paper. I've already scored it. You're going to get to areas where you got switch plates. You got to remove those switch plates. They ribbon it off. And I can see that this is the actual drywall underneath. and it's never been textured, but it's been sized and so it's got a primer on it and stuff and it's ready. You don't want to paint it like this because it's kind of smooth, bumpy, ugly looking. Doesn't match this, but it's going to want you're going to want to texture it to match this existing if you want it to look like a professional did it.
