To begin the removal process for a modern toilet seat, locate the two plastic bolt covers at the back of the toilet seat, near the tank. These covers conceal the mounting hardware. Gently pop them open or slide them back to expose the quick-release mechanism or bolts beneath. The demonstrator uses his gloved hand to slide the bolt covers backward.
