(4,131 characters)hey folks that fix it guy here and today i had a first time fail with an inch and a quarter p-trap i'm going to show you what i did to fix this situation up and get this vanity up and running so come along let's get to fixing [Applause] all right so this is what we're looking at this is the bottom of a vanity sink okay sinks up here this is the tail piece that comes down you got the valves back there and you've got the inch and a half drain outlet that goes into the wall well connecting a p-trap up to this sometimes you use an inch and a quarter or sometimes use an inch and a half but check this out this inch and a quarter actually will not go up there and so i've actually i've never seen that especially on a lavatory drain right on a kitchen drain yes on a laboratory no i've always been able to put an inch and a quarter on there and you just can't you literally cannot put it there so i don't know if it actually is this style of trap this particular p-trap or it is something else it's i think that it's this i think that it's not a hundred percent brand name and that is what the issue is they actually just didn't make this to a spec that this trap will fit so with the inch and a quarter not fitting we're going to bump this up to inch and a half you can see there's all kinds of play right there this is much bigger than this little one right here all right and it's going to allow us the space we need to connect this to the inch and a quarter we're going to use these washers this is an inch and a quarter reducer washer it reduces from inch and a half down to inch and a quarter and this is a thick plastic one i mean you can see the difference right here that's a regular inch and a half this is an inch and a half by inch and a quarter and we're actually not going to use this either we're going to go with a flexible rubber one and same thing it's just got that extra little piece in there to bump down an inch and a quarter but this is going to allow us a little bit more leeway because this actually doesn't really want to fit on there either so we'll just take this put this up there get this up and on where it needs to go we'll just have that up in place all right so now we've got the p-trap assembly you're going to want to cut this waist arm to length that way it fits up in here and i like to just get this set up because we're going to need a measurement from here to here to actually put an extension tube on this because we've got a gap all right get that cut pop this in place make sure you have all your washers in here want that bevel actually going into this little area right here makes it nice and secure once you get that all in place we're able to get this up in here all right so there we go where the inch and a quarter wouldn't go on we were able to switch it to inch and a half and make that it's not that hard if you bought something this small well you can always go to inch and a half actually a lot of people prefer inch and a half over inch and a quarter anyway if you get into small vanities such as this sometimes you have to use something a little smaller but in this case we're able to transition easy and it worked out very well a lot of people put inch and a half p traps in any way all right just fyi you could always just put an inch and a half peach wrap in and reduce down at the pop-up assembly i use inch and a quarter sometimes when i'm in tight spaces okay and this case i thought it was going to be a little bit of a tight space turned out the inch and a half worked for me anyway but first time ever that i didn't get one of these to work i just wanted to show it i wanted to know your thoughts you guys anybody ever ran into this situation because i just found it weird usually plumbing parts are made to work they're specific they are made designed to work with numerous manufacturers so i wonder if it just was an off-brand issue or what please leave me some comments let me know i really hope you guys are enjoying the videos please subscribe click that like button we'd love to have you keep coming back thank you very much and we'll see you again real soon
