What happens here

After sanding, thoroughly wipe down all surfaces of the stair railing with a rag dampened with TSP substitute cleaner and deglosser. This solution helps to remove any sanding dust, grime, and dull the existing finish slightly, preparing the wood for better stain adhesion. Ensure no residue is left behind by following up with a clean, damp rag if necessary.
