Scrape Loose Paint and Thoroughly Clean Surfaces

What happens here

Inspect the pool surfaces for any previous paint that is peeling, bubbling, or loose. Use a 5-in-1 painter's tool (or a similar scraping tool) to aggressively scrape off all the loose paint. The goal is to remove any compromised paint, ensuring a stable surface for the new coat. Afterward, use a shop-vac to remove all scraped paint chips and fine debris from the pool, then wipe down the entire surface with clean rags to ensure it is dust-free and ready for painting.
