How to paint a door while not taking it down. Painting A Door.
What happens here
Begin the masking process using a 3M hand masker. Mask the footings (the bottom part of the door frame) to protect them from paint. Next, mask the two door knobs by covering them completely with masking paper and tape. Finally, mask the inside of the door frame (jamb) to prevent any overspray from reaching the interior of the house. Use 1.5-inch tape all around the inside of the door frame. Ensure the tape is also applied to the back and front sides of the door's edges where it meets the frame when closed.
Goal: Protect door hardware and interior from overspray
