What happens here

This video details the second part of a DIY pondless waterfall installation, covering steps 7 through 14. The project involves attaching the pump to the reservoir base, strategically placing the pond liner, filling the basin with sand, carefully setting boulders to create a natural water flow, installing and leveling the waterfall spillway, using foam sealant to direct water and secure rocks, connecting the pump's hose, and finally landscaping with decorative elements like artificial plants and driftwood. The entire process, from preparing the pump to turning on the completed waterfall, is demonstrated as taking 2 hours and 20 minutes by an experienced team.

everything we need to build this pond this waterfall fits in the back of an really standard we have a wheelbarrow buckets of gravel about it 12 to 15 stones and then the key element we showed you the first six steps to installing a pondless waterfall today we're going to ensure you steps 7 through 14 we're going to get this job done in 2 hours and 20 minutes from start to finish this is a four thousand seven hundred and fifty dollar job the kit costs eleven hundred dollars the stones we need five to seven boulders that are anywhere from twelve to eighteen inches inside plus five buckets of gravel the rest of the material to do this job cost anywhere from 150 to 200 dollars so when you do your math this job is over three thousand five hundred dollars in profits on it in just two and a half hours and we're actually going to show you that today so let's get into this the next step until you probably don't know this but well it's trying to work through the creative vision looking at the rocks I'm gonna go ahead and get this pump hooked up so that when he sets his waterfall stone I can work out and kind of finish off the reservoir and not have to try and access that pump after I've already finished what goes over the black plastic okay so it comes with a couple of fittings but this is a fitting that's going to screw into the inside portion of that bulkhead fitting okay so the two inch threads are gonna thread into here now this we do not need to apply silicone guys because it's an inside so that birds under there and you're creating a shelf up there I am so I'm just coming in we had the big pile of soil tim has compacted it now I'm coming in I'm starting to carve into that a little bit what we're trying to do with a waterfall is we're making like a little bit of a Cove area so that's exactly how it works in nature so in nature you're gonna have water is gonna carve its way through exposing all that stone so you typically have some larger boulders on the outside perimeter and then smaller in the middle where that water is kind of cascading so the corner is a natural place to do that if we were to do it on this flat part it becomes more difficult Plus now I have to put my boulders way over and on the sides and it kind of changes the dynamics if you put it right here we're gonna have a frame rock that's going to be next to the waterfall right here you could make it more difficult before access to your pump now with this type of a pump this is very forgiving so this is an asynchronous style mag drive pump we could turn that on and I could let I could let it run here in our warehouse which we've done literally for over a month all dry outside of the water really wrong completely different Stein that's a rec drive pump that has a little bit more horsepower solids handling they're a little bit more picky so that would that's the one that comes with the dead [Music] we like bomb proof okay so what are we doing right there guys this is the pond liner you've got the shelves out so this is the pond liner right this is the actual pond liner that's going in place all right so what we did we're just kind of laying that out comes seven and a half foot by seven and a half foot it's gonna give us enough flexibility the reason we're not going with a bigger liner and a bigger waterfall is this reservoir can't handle it so we have a specific volume of water in here the bigger the waterfall gets here and start getting a little bit more customized so for something like this it's going to give us a six foot waterfall 18 inches or so in height the liner doesn't necessarily have to cover the hole it Rizza this is actually is going to get cut off okay all of this because what we want to have happen is the water has to get back down again this was our fabric just to keep dirt out kinda did a good job but the water has to get back down into those slots to go back to the top now you're 50 minutes into this build are you on that yeah absolutely I think we're doing great so our next step we have our we staged our rocks over here we're going to start coming in and start positioning those bigger boulders to create that waterfall effect okay I think we're looking good Oh so what you notice guys we are filling the basin at the same time that we're building the waterfall that you want to drain it down those challenges with working with granite Ryan all this he's not allowed out of that box water kind of sticks to it like if you put in a rock like this it'd be a nice look what water would just kind of roll across it it's not gonna be a waterfall so if we turn this a little bit we could stand this up vertically we have a nice flat ledge there which is great moral fall effect and we can kind of play around with different that works yeah unless you're falling right there yep so if you look at this rock from above you don't want to have you don't want the bottom sticking out further from the top so I'm always looking at from the top and then I'll also look at it from the front I want to have it kind of leaning a little bit so it actually crates up like this is this is a cantilever that makes sense we want to get that water kind of shooting off of it yep and then instead of rolling doumitt exactly I think sometimes you can overthink the waterfalls when you really look at it if somebody didn't already tell you all waterfalls that we build are built basically the exact same way you have a big rock on one side another big rock on the other side those are our frame rocks what change is the way the waterfall looks is this that rock that sits in between and so what address is talking about twisting and turning that spill stone gives a different look one of the number-one areas when we get callbacks it is going to be at least the leak is not going to be in the reservoir the leak is a solid container right so the biggest 99% of the time it's going to be just a little bit of a low edge in the liner which is why I wanted it four inches above so we make sure that this is up high but these little transitions right here if I were to take soil and pack it in really tight if you've ever had a leak in your roof in your house you could see a drip here but the leak could be the other side of the home and it just travels itself along and it finds a little crevice then it drops inside the same thing right in here so when do so a lot of people freaked out about them if you design it properly in the beginning you're gonna eliminate that so what I'm doing what I'm talking about doing here is creating what we call a weeping area so by having a pocket of gravel here that water travels in between this rock and the liner this is our transition we need a seal right here we're gonna use a foam sealant but if I were to pack it in nice and tight that water could just dribble dribble dribble and then it kicks itself outside of the liner by having a gravel bed here we're gonna phone this but now I have this huge it's a French drain if any water gets to that it's gonna drain and go into a tank and it's not gonna just wiring together some of our new 3y color changing lights now these do not come with the kit but they're really really neat add on the way we install it like Brian said we charge like 47 50 for the backyard landscape and waterfall kids yeah and we'll actually could include lights with that inner level then you gotta mark your line or two don't join yeah ICU liners all out of everything to me this is probably the most complicated the rocks and stuff are pretty simple right three rock waterfalls put a liner in put some rock on top that's all on the eye of the beholder this you can't screw up as you screw this up you're going to get a leak so really easy we're going to make sure the liner comes all the way back behind this this is eventually is going to get folded up like this retaining all that water going that way you know this is our one connection we have to make so I just come in here like this put my liner right up to the back of this if I push on this really hard it's gonna leave a mark on the other side where I need to cut my hole if I come back here you can see that that hole right there comes also I'm going to take these off I could use this to also kind of push an idea of where this is gonna be now I don't want to cut it to the exact same size as the opening of this that'll be too loose so once I've marked out this circle right here come in about you know half an inch smaller than that original circle you marked out I mean we're sealing the inside rubber seal on the inside and the outside okay like so just like the ball can fit in clay or whatever here in the aqua basin it's got those reversed threads on it couple turns past hand tight and there was a trick that had taught me a while back it was over time as sediment and stuff you know from the rock and gravel just accumulates it will actually like kind of embed itself into the fabric so it's basically watertight so I'm just putting it over the top of that foam so that it will attach itself to the foam based in giving it this blanket look right and then I can I also have a spot where I can lay my gravel on top of this without having to let it cure a hundred percent you guys have fake driftwood not included in the kit but it makes hide in the front of that thing really really easy this is fake yeah right but the resin material where duplicated off of a piece of drift where we found just had some shape and stuff to it you could use this if you wanted to get a waterfall coming through this would be your support stone this would be your other support stone and water coming through here I'm gonna use it and try to take this piece with a combination of another piece and see if we can't hide this waterfall spillway here that's so far they're an hour and 42 Granton okay I'm like that want to see it all running here so what crying fans from back here is where it's important yep not from not looking at it from where he's looking at it it can look amazing up there and look Jack down here you guys had to come from the view point [Music] knocked all that sand and everything out of there make sure you get any type of debris out of those dreads this guy in I just go hand-tight open this up a little bit drumroll guys let's see if it's pipes long enough come on give us a break looks like it's six inches short [Laughter] Brian spilling the beans the two big mistakes people make two biggest mistakes first is they set their waterfall too high everybody thinks they need a waterfall this high for it to look impressive and to be worth anything right the other mistake they'll make is they'll come in and they'll plumb up the waterfall spillway right away carve everything out hook all that stuff up and then you're married to whatever you've already done notice as they set a rock the liner keeps adapting they were folding that liner back and able to dig out a dig out to compensate Chris Chris brought up a great point even with fake plants you can see the difference this thing is taking on my plants make or break every single project there you go yeah we're done what do you guys see since that's it so we did actually get this done in about 2 hours 45 minutes you know two hundred twenty minutes yeah yes and it was to to experience these guys and one dude yep the new didn't even do that much except for ask a lot of questions I still have the experience guys down a little bit but that's okay that's the point so you guys tell me what you think of this in the comments down below and make sure you guys stick around because we're gonna be doing a fountain and then what are we doing tomorrow one of the big one tomorrow build a pot we're doing a full power full power full pot like help a Greg wants us to 11 by 16 that I think will do something closer like I love my level I think core idea for us to tackle it I don't think we need to pull any of our crew it all right are you gonna show up a little bit more tomorrow that's this wraps up our pilus waterfall but we're still going to be doing it bone and if you haven't seen our other videos on the pond with the waterfall we installed an 11 by 16 pond with the waterfall in 5 hours and 15 minutes to show you step by steps we got a lot of exciting stuff coming up but while you here do me a favor and check out these other two videos right here as always guys I hope this helped you out let me know in the comments down below god bless and go get them
