How to fix a busted garden hose!

What happens here

Using a pair of heavy-duty kitchen shears, make a clean, straight cut across the damaged section of the hose. Ensure that the cut is made on a healthy part of the hose, past any cracks or leaks. For 'no-kink' hoses, use the kitchen shears or a utility knife to carefully snip and remove the internal rubber tab from the newly cut end. This internal tab needs to be removed for the repair fitting to slide in properly.

Goal: Create a clean cut on the hose and prepare the opening for the fitting.

Tools and materials

  • Garden Hose Costco — The hose that requires repair
  • Kitchen Shears — Cutting the hose and trimming the internal tab
  • Utility Knife — Trimming the internal 'no-kink' tab if shears are too large
