What happens here

This project demonstrates how to perform a 3-point saddle bend on electrical conduit. This specific type of bend is crucial in electrical work for smoothly guiding conduit over obstacles like beams or other pipes without creating sharp angles, ensuring cables can be pulled through easily and maintaining the integrity of the system.

22 right here. >> Yeah. Hey, Dad. How do you do a three-point saddle? Well, three-point saddle, I see the situation you have here. So, you're going to be running conduit and you're going to be running into something perpendicular. First thing you need to do is determine where the center mark is of the conduit. We're going to do is we're going to mark the center of the obstacle in this case. Now, I know that's deep strut. That's inch and 7/8, but I'm going to go like 3 in. So, I'm going to make a threepoint saddle will be 3 in up and over. And we're going to use the 4522 1/2 rule. Okay. So, first thing we're going to do is we determine it's 3 in high. Measure 2 1/2 times that amount. 7 and 1/2 in on either side. Make a mark here. 7 and 1/2 in. I'm going to make a mark here. So, I should have three marks total. This is the center right here. Now, what I like to do is I like to put a mark all the way around. A light pencil mark, not a Sharpie. >> Why do you use pencil, not Sharpie? because I can erase it if I'm in a situation where I don't want it to be seen. So now I have my three marks. One, two, three. And what I'm going to do is in the center, the first thing I'm going to do is make a 45° bend. >> Okay? >> So I'm going to put the center mark on the line. >> Okay? >> And that's why it's good to make a line all the way around it. So no matter where you're at, you can see. Now I'm going to go up to the 45 mark. >> About 45 right there. Always 45°. It's not. You can just You can do this in many different ways. Now, what I'm going to do is I want to make a 22° bend on each of these other outer marks. I can push down until the 22. >> Oh, I see. Yeah. Good. And then the same thing on this side now. >> Oh, I want to do a 22° bend this way. And now I want to make sure that I have no dog leg. I'm just going to pull down on it until again I can see the 22 right here. Yeah, there's the 22° right there. >> Yeah. >> Oh, wow. That looks clean. Oh wow. Yeah, it's perfect. Yeah, cuz I got this commercial job and I have to bend this pipe over this beam. That really helps a lot. >> That is a threepoint saddle. >> Thanks, Dad.
