Take the new oil filter and apply a thin coat of fresh oil to its gasket. This helps create a better seal and prevents the gasket from sticking. Screw the new oil filter onto its housing, tightening it by hand until snug. Do not overtighten, as the compression of the gasket will provide a sufficient seal. Once the filter is installed, open the engine's oil fill cap and insert a clean funnel. Slowly pour the specified amount of new synthetic oil (2.3 quarts for this Gator) into the engine using the funnel to prevent spills.
