How to can tomatoes simple quick and easy wholesome foods
What happens here
Carefully place the filled, lidded, and ringed jars into the canning pot, ensuring they are positioned on a rack or on top of extra rings to prevent direct contact with the pot's bottom. Add enough water to cover the jar lids by at least one inch. Bring the water to a rolling boil, then process for 40 minutes (for quart jars). After 40 minutes, turn off the heat and allow the canner to cool slightly before carefully removing the jars with jar tongs. Place the hot jars on a towel-lined surface to cool completely and seal. Avoid placing hot jars directly on a cold countertop to prevent cracking.
Goal: Process and seal the filled tomato jars.
