How to calibrate your miter saw

What happens here

Before performing any checks or adjustments, ensure your miter saw is unplugged from its power source for safety. Set the saw's miter angle to 0 degrees and lock it in place. Then, take a speed square and place it against the saw's fence and the blade. Observe if there's any gap between the speed square and the blade or fence, indicating the saw is not perfectly square. In this video, a gap is visible along the back edge, showing it's not square.

Goal: Visually check initial squareness of miter and bevel

Your miter saw says 0° but is it actually cutting square? Let's get after it. Unplug your saw. Make sure your saw is set to 0, lock in place. Get yourself a good square, up against your fence and on your blade. And as you can see, I have a gap along this back edge. Get yourself a piece of wood and we'll make a cut. Once we have this, you can go ahead and take this side and flip it over. Press your bottoms tight and as you can tell, we have a gap. Next, we want to check
