How to build a retaining wall. #hardscape #retainingwall

What happens here

After laying the geotextile fabric, a layer of foundation stone (typically clean, angular gravel or crushed stone) is placed into the trench. This stone layer provides a level, permeable surface upon which the first course of retaining wall blocks will rest. It is critical to spread this stone evenly to the correct depth (usually 4-6 inches) and then compact it thoroughly using the mechanical compactor. The surface of this compacted stone must be "laser straight" and perfectly level, with "no dips or high places," as its precision directly dictates the levelness and long-term stability of the entire retaining wall structure.

Goal: Create a stable, level base for the first course of wall blocks
