[Applause] so i'm going to try to run through some of the basics on what i do when i'm first getting familiar with a loader not comfy should raise the bucket up raise the bucket up pull the bucket back operator error new red flags that's the wrong way to do it so it might have looked at times like the motor was getting a little unlevel that's because it was or is there a procedure that i have to do to secure the machine instantly is there maybe even a kill switch those are some important factors are just kind of when you're first getting into a machine is the most important thing isn't how to make it go it's how to make it stop [Music] all right you guys welcome back today we're gonna be running a brand new loader and it's kind of a one of a kind they're new to the united states my understanding is there's only three dealers bringing these in and today we're just gonna let you get a feel for what this new piece of equipment is like [Applause] so we're heading up to rogers minnesota this is the top-notch dealership and you'll see me here every now and then because these guys will let me test drive just about anything on their lot sometimes they let me take them to my job sites but this one was just a little too big to mobilize so they let me play with it on their lot piling up snow banks and taking it through its paces and i wanna just bring you guys into the cab and let you see what it feels like to run this piece of equipment today [Music] all right guys we're gonna do something a little bit different today we're gonna check out a telescoping articulating italian loader i don't know a whole lot about the piece of equipment but i know i got a set of keys so let's go inside and check it out together so this is called a veneering loader and my understanding is these are the same guys that used to make case equipment and a couple other brand names that you may have heard of all right let's see got it here do we have glow plugs glow plugs it's cold out today looks like all systems go p means parking brake is still on looks like we've got a mechanical parking brake okay looks like we've got a stick shift one two three four gears forward neutral reverse let's see yeah yeah it works just like that let's see what else we got okay joystick i'm gonna guess this is what does our boom yep so this one right here is what makes a telescope out and back in okay i'm gonna guess if i curl left in right out back up forward down but if i push too far forward it stops not really familiar with that to be honest with you maybe that's a function on some loaders it's not on the sledge and that's really the only loader that i'm really familiar with so if i go too far she stops i don't know if i like that but that's probably because i'm not used to it yeah something right here oh shifter all right so we've got a second shifter underneath the stick so we can go shift here or we can shift with our fingers right here i can see where that would be perfect for guys that are like from the xbox generation right like the old schoolers like me i don't know i'd prefer just to use the stick right here but some of you new fan danglers would probably prefer it right here all right let's see what else do we got heat that's always nice and we got a bunch of other bells whistles and buttons which i haven't gone through and we've got more up here radio here [Applause] not a bad cab not a bad cap all right well let's just take her for a spin and get used to it i wish i had a better spot to mount you guys that's what she said um so you got two ways of driving it right you can use that the old farmer style which is boom your stick on the front or if you want a little bit more i don't know modern you got your controller underneath your joists that come forward in reverse now i know i said that before but i wanted to show you kind of how it instantly responds while i'm driving it [Music] oh she's got a little giddy up guys [Music] so one of the first things i like to do whenever i hop into a new loader is spend about 20 minutes just getting comfortable with the machine and especially in the beginning how you make it stop because how you think you may make it stop isn't always true as you go through all of the functions and so i a machine this big and heavy i really just want to get familiar with the feel and making sure that i can stop it instantly because it's easy to get into a danger zone which i get into a few times coming up where it's just like boom i gotta instantly know how to stop and it's not from almost hitting stuff it's from getting out of balance especially in a machine that has this giant telescoping arm that can happen quick that's not something you see every day look at how they got that [Music] i get that right over the cab of the truck [Applause] to each their own right so now what i'm doing is i'm driving i just want to get a feel for the weight and balance side to side we'll warm her up and again i'm trying to train my body you'll see me going through all of the functions because i want to turn my mind off and train my body to run the piece of equipment and i know that sounds weird but that's the way i do it i don't want to think i want to do and it takes about 20 minutes to get before you get into that zone wonder how tight she can turn this is a big loader [Music] she snakes right around he's got a bit of giddy up on a loader like this i would say after two days it would just be like you so cool so cool i love that feeling drink of the day you guys what have you recommended trying kirkland's signature so i'm going with kiwi strawberry and i have a terrible cold i am so sick so if i sound completely stuffed up i am but let's give this a go kirkland kiwi strawberry a toast to you guys thanks for joining me tonight this is really bad this tastes terrible this tastes like medicine maybe my taster is off [Music] oh i can taste kiwi and strawberry but in a medicine sort of a combination i only got eight more to go no worries [Laughter] [Music] oh shout outs we got a whole list of them coming tonight so now what i'm doing you guys is i'm just putting it out lifting it up down because i want to see exactly i'm going nice and slow and this is how i'm just getting familiar with this because i am going to work this coming up [Music] see this is super sketchy right now because this blows all the way up my balance this machine like it's just but it was cool to try we're gonna do a walk around on this machine in just a little bit and we are going to start to use it so trust me i know some of you guys are like oh this is all cool and all but honestly what i want you guys to feel like is like you're part of you know being out here and testing it because i know some of these guys have never ran a loader and maybe they're going into a place where they've gotta run one so i'm gonna try to run through some of the basics on what i do when i'm first getting familiar with a loader for you guys and man some of you more experienced operator loaders let me know what you do harry can i go stack that snow up over there okay thank you keep busy let's stack some snow so now when you guys look at this that looks fairly stable right but what i learned coming up pretty quick and you'll see it happening in the machine is right about there there it's just drops completely off now the snow looks like it's going up and the ground looks like it's going flat but it's not it's going straight down and the further i go that way toward the highway the steeper that drop off gets right at the edge of that asphalt and so remember when i said earlier about learning how to stop it on a dime that's where that becomes important everything looks like it should be normal situations but even right here it's not and i'll show you at the end of this video exactly what i learned while i was experimenting and playing with this thing now especially you guys see how far out i can boom like that right so if i don't have stability underneath me that can completely throw my machine off even that much faster than when i'm boomed in because my center of gravity boomed out completely changes [Music] right there is one of the most dangerous points if all four of my tires don't feel firmly planted when i'm way far out and tipping that can just hmm [Music] me time to give you guys a new angle two new angles actually all right let's go right in the middle of this pile rain with the weather because once we get up there pretty high they tend to get tippy i hear that's the way uh physics work i don't think i have it i don't have it idled up very high so the cycle times on the hydraulics are slow so don't really take that into consideration okay because i'm going slow and easy i mean this isn't my 160 000 loader that i own so i'm not going to be banging on her that's what she said so right here my my tires are off the ground getting a little tipsy turvy because i'm not familiar with the machine so right there that's operator error it's kind of fun just to see what they can do how they handle you know get here he's watching me here he's over there in his little mini loader i hope i'm not pushing everything back too far for him i think i could push this stuff all the way over to that pole if i wanted to and i don't think that's their property sometimes i don't know if i want to put my machine in that area but if i want to get the load there i'll just telescope out or if my machine doesn't it doesn't provide me the traction to keep pushing what i'll do is i'll stop it lock the tires and then telescope out as well so i'm using that telescoping boom for a number of different features and the third feature is it's just fun to do i'll just be straight with you guys it's just so fun hitting that button freak freak [Music] all right let's really get into this pile right here okay let's see what happens you guys see this pile coming up i guess i prefer the old-fashioned way what i'm saying is when i'm running these things i'm going to be grabbing the stick instead of the joystick so what i'm doing is you'll watch as i go forward i know where i'm going to start to lose traction and i just stop and then i telescope out like i said earlier but what i don't realize is where i'm stopping it's not i'm not stopping on ground you guys outside that's just a bank of snow and it's just straight underneath so that snow just goes the machine will get real unstable real i'm just looking at the dual lift cylinders how they're mounted underneath the i thought that was kind of cool looking let's see if we can see it again you can really see how all the hydraulics work together from this angle it's pretty cool here that one was oh yeah right about there i'm starting to realize that the snow bank goes down instead of flat so you can see how i'm now holding back a little bit more and using the telescopic boom to get my material where i want it to be let's see if we can get harry to give us the what for on that you got a minute harry sure can you give us the what for on the veneri oh what do you want to know um you know for these guys that don't know anything about them can you just give us a walk through what's the engine what's the price what's uh you know some just some of the basics okay yeah so it's uh veneers made in italy um back in the 70s and 80s they actually built machines for case and a few other companies came to the u.s a number of years ago you know has their own own name it's got a 143 horse deuts i believe in this this one so this is the deuts what are the engines that they typically run in them because they also got what else do they got what what the heck those are gonna be yammer engines and the smaller stuff the bigger engines will be the deutsch okay this is one of two telescopic versions they just have one in a big series and then one in their small series in the 163 i don't have it here oh you don't have one size smaller than a 263 would be the other telescopic model okay most of their motors are going to be your standard z-bar link okay motors okay so we just we just started uh carrying them here back in december are they cheaper than your your big name brands cat cat kamatsu probably right in there like this one's uh i believe this one's 168 168 000 okay so i think what separates these is these options that these guys give you like this ability to telescope out i think i don't know of other loaders i'm not i'm not familiar with other loaders that have that besides jcb but i definitely could be wrong i just don't know of any cat case kamatsu or volvo loaders that do that and maybe some of you guys need that you know at first i was like who the heck needs a telescoping loader i mean what would you need that for because it can already load a truck but then man when you're building big retaining walls oh the ability to reach up and over when you're backfilling foundations the ability to reach way far out and sprinkle material into the middle of a foundation wall without getting too close yeah i kind of had a few of those realizations that maybe this had i don't know what are some other things you guys where where would this be handy i mean besides stacking snow right oh let's do the shout outs all right you guys we have ian underwood hayden lee brian valland noah hermel shout out to brian skurt skyruby scurvy how about abby care from wausau wisconsin we got more of you guys look at that that's so sketchy what the so fun to do though cleopatra coppola or keyhole coppola as she was called when she was younger dominic farzeta jonathan dubois steele county lawn specialist i hope i said that right steel or steek southern homestead transformation chuck finley the mountain outdoors michael rice and jonathan terrell so what do you guys do you put them on are you getting rid of one i saw on one right away or what's the truck here for oh you don't have an unloader no we don't have another motor i was just talking to him because i want to buy one of these tow trucks so we can unload them and do other things yeah but you got a bunch of concrete blocks right there couldn't you just make one with some dirt yeah all right maybe next year i volunteer to do it absolutely i can play in new toys i'm gonna do it you guys see that mustang up there mustang mayhem you gotta watch what i do with that skid loader brought that loader out into a parking lot and at one point i got it to balance right on the tips and i had it all sitting there and i let go of the controls and the machine was just perfectly balanced on two points and i took that machine and i put it up and i walked it all the way across my lot and i learned something cool when you guys watch that video it's gonna be called mustang mayhem when you watch that video the um it's got this ideal track system and what that does is that keeps the tracks at the perfect tension and you'll see the tracks flexing as i'm going because it's compensating for the weight of the machine and that's why you can wheely it so easy it was just this weird aha moment so when you watch that video look for that [Music] this is is this an articulating backhoe yep articulating backhoe loader okay so unlike your kind of conventional backhoe loaders that are kind of based on tractors there's the backhoe based on an articulating loader sword pivots in the center and it's a backhoe and a horn four in one bucket is that normal or is that is that an add-on option it's just what it had on it when they brought it up to us okay but i'm looking at the backhoe and they do something that i've seen only done on jcb models and that's got that backhoe that swings side to side okay because i know jcbs i think they're manually driven meaning you put the machine down and then boom you got to move your backhoe what that means you guys is for some of you guys that aren't familiar with it this whole backhoe unit will slide anywhere you want it to but this one you hit a button and the hydraulics put it where you wanted to on the other one i seen you had to literally use the boom to position it which isn't that big of a i'm not seeing a hydraulic motor so what do we got here oh that's the swing motor okay but you now that's a telescoping articulating italian loader and you have one that is two models and the next one is a is like a little bit smaller than this one yep how many horsepower is that run that one's 50. okay okay one's also 50 horse it is so it's very same engine and this one in the one size smaller okay and then the one size bigger from this is a 70 horse okay and you guys plow with it no this is a little compact you know back hole loader but it's a fixed chassis all-wheel steer oh similar to a telehandler right so to go in most tight or small areas you can't get the big stuff in huh well i did notice for a pretty big machine that thing turns really nice i mean just just on a dime it really it really does feel tight but it still feels you'll see me when i put that bucket down and push down that's that where the tires get unlevel like that that's not a comfy feeling and that's just my because i'm not familiar with the machine you know if i was really familiar with this machine i wouldn't sweat that at all i'm guessing right there just not comfy especially when you're booming out like that to be unlevel like when you're level the machine feels great i mean great see even though i'm tipped down right here the machines level side to side which is the most important feeling to me personally [Music] [Applause] not comfy should raise the bucket up raise the bucket up pull the bucket back operator error new red flags that's the wrong way to do it but again i'm not comfortable with it familiar with it so it might have looked at times like the motor was getting a little unlevel that's because it was and i want to show you why it wasn't because of the loader it's because right here this all goes straight down just like this over here so this is the hill that we're pushing all of this snow down and into so that's what was happening camping let's see what else we can do with this thing to me that was a big fail because as an operator what i should have looked at was all of my conditions what am i getting into and it's sometimes it's really easy to just kind of gloss over it especially when you're pushing into a pile of snow like that and it looks like it's stable ground but that's what i was saying learning how to stop the machine it's so important because when a machine starts to get uncomfortable it can go to uncomfortable to dangerous really fast and just learning is it just hands off the controls or is there a procedure that i have to do to secure the machine instantly is there maybe even a kill switch uh those are some important factors just kind of when you're first getting into a machine is the most important thing isn't how to make it go it's how to make it stop [Music] some of you guys may be going why is he got his boom so high up in the air especially when he's being lowered down these machines are pretty firmly planted and once you get into one of these machines you really quickly get a feel for where the balance points of them are now i can't speak for josh in the cab right now but myself you you get you get really comfortable with them really quick [Applause] all right you guys that's our video for today it was a lot of fun hanging out with the guys at top notch equipment kicking out the veneer reloaders and just uh seeing what's going on and what's new i hope you guys enjoyed it it was fun making it it's always fun hanging out with you guys i tell you i just want to say thank you for all your support thank you for all the things you guys do and i hope that these videos either bring you some joy some entertainment maybe some edumacation that would be a nice bonus and maybe help you guys make better decisions let me know what you think in the comments down below and as always guys god bless go get them do me a favor hit…
