How Canadians Build Dump trailers different.

What happens here

The manufacturing process and paint quality are discussed. The presenter emphasizes Southland's engineering, comparing their precision to a 'hospital' environment, drawing parallels to industrial giants like Volvo. He describes the liquid paint process, noting it's identical to that used on major pickup trucks (Ford, Chevy, GM, Ram), not powder coating. The factory employs a high level of quality control, measuring the thickness of the paint at every point on the trailer. This thorough process ensures durability and prevents issues like 'washboarding' (dents and warping) commonly seen in other trailers.

Goal: Highlight the advanced manufacturing and paint application techniques.

is, this is not to be braggadocious, the only company in the world that had engineering to the level of Southland Trailers is Volvo out of Shippenbergs, Pennsylvania, and they will not allow you to film. So, I got to go behind the scenes and see how that Volvo makes their loaders. And their manufacturing process is like being in a freaking hospital. And Southland's trailer process is as almost comparable to Volvo's manufacturing process. And here's an interesting story. One of the guys from Southland Trailers comes up to me, goes, "Hey, Stan." I'm like, "Yeah." He goes, "I saved 8 square feet in this manufacturing facility." I'm like, "What does that mean?" And in my head, I'm drawing out what 8 square ft looks like. I'm like, "Oh, what's the big deal? Who cares about that?" He says that 8 square ft allowed me to manufacture one more trailer per day. They are so hyperefficient. They have everything so stateofthe-art and dialed in that it it feels like you're witnessing something out of Japan itself. And and I was telling Shane off camera, let's walk this way and take a look at some stuff. I was telling Shane off camera, it's not like they're forcing their guys or pushing their guys to work harder. I watch this manufacturing facility and I've actually got it on video in one of my old videos for Southland where they bring a trailer in and the guys run up like NASCAR drivers and they run up and they're the trailer lifts up, rotates over, the guys are and when they're they back off, the music's cranking and the guys are dancing. They're they're just moving and grooving and the next trailer comes in and they jump in and they're like and I'm just like what am I witnessing? I mean, and this is up in Alberta, Canada, out in the boonies of nowhere. How did they get these people that are are this hyperefficient and this tuned into their job? >> Yeah. What did you see with the paint process when you were through there? >> The paint process is very similar. It's the same. Not I can't say it's very similar. It is the same as on Ford, Chevy, GM, Ram pickup trucks. It's the same liquid paint process that they have. And when they paint something, it's not just powder coated on cuz this is not a paint process. This is a liquid paint as far as what you know, and you may know more about this than I do. But then they don't just paint it and walk away from it. They actually have a meter where they go through and they can tell you how thick every point on your…
