(17,161 characters)guys before we get started I want to tell you where we're at we are near the Irish Sea and milem in the United Kingdom at Tornado wire you're gonna see how all the stuff is put together if you're interested in getting some wire for yourself you can contact Farm fence solutions that's where you can get this stuff in the United States and this is the wire that we're going to be putting on our farm to build our fences all right hey folks this is Josh Stoney Ridge farmer welcome to the farm blog today we are in where we at guys vilom Lake District Umbria Great Britain we're in Great Britain you believe that can you believe that we're in Great Britain at the factory where our wire tornado wire for the farm is being built so we've worked out a way we can do a factory tour here this is the raw wire that comes into the factory just like this and they make it into all sorts of fun stuff so what we're putting on the farm is a high tensile woven wire we're going to go over to the warehouse right now we're gonna see what the finished product looks like then we're going to take you through the entire factory we're going to show you how all these wires are made all the different knots all sorts of fun stuff so let's get over to the warehouse right now and we'll show you some of the wire that goes out of this place and then I know you want to see all these machines tying knots and moving wire through this Factory super cool [Music] as this is such a treat I've never ever be able to experience this if it wasn't for you and for having this YouTube channel super crazy so you guys might wonder why I'm wearing glasses and reflective gear it's so I don't get squashed here in the factory some of these bundles over here are bundles of wire that did not pass the test and they'll go back and be recycled and reused in building more wire so here we are in the warehouse there's all sorts of fencing right here this is deer fencing horse fencing fencing for sheep and lambs all sorts of fencing back in here they make basically any kind of woven wire fence that you want to get for any animal to keep them restrained in other words this type of fencing is used in the UK or in Europe to keep deer out of replanted areas of forest now we don't have to do that so much where we live but what we're looking for is a livestock fence something similar to this right here I also want to mention at the very end of this video we're gonna take you through and we're going to show you how staples are made so fencing staples pretty awesome so the coolest part about the factory is how all this is held together how it's knotted together how the little bins every intricate tiny Bend makes a difference so this wire we have right here I'm gonna get you a little bit of a close-up and there are three different kinds of knots that are tied in this high tensile woven wire so this knot right here we're gonna get you a close-up in the factory of how it's made this is called the torus knot and basically the wires just twisted around this is very important there's also a little bend in the wire and if you notice all the way up through here there's a little bend in the wire and that's to help maintain tension on the wire through the heat and the cold so as it gets hotter outside the wire will expand and tend to Sag but with this it draws it up and keeps it nice and tight when it's cold and when it's hot so pretty cool you'll see how this is all made in the factory we're gonna go look at the other two types of knots really quick and this is a horse fence so you have to think about this is small enough the squares are small enough that the horse can't get its hoof caught in it and the knots are smooth so that doesn't scratch the horse and it doesn't harm the animal so it's all very cool very well-thought-out alright we're to another type of wire with a new type of knot and this is called a hinge joint or a hinge knot and this is probably the most commonly seen type of knot on a high tensile wire like this so high tensile woven wire the wire that we're going to get has a very special knot and that's what we'll go to last but let's look at this knot and we'll talk a little bit about it and a little bit about the wire construction before we go and see how it's made so it's kind of hard to see this at first but you'll get a little bit more as we go this is the knot and we'll see how that's tied and basically each one of these pieces of wire come off the same role but each segment is its own individual piece so they're cut into segments and then they're wrapped really tightly and that's so that the fence can flex and hinge and this is the most commonly used and least expensive type of knot to use on the fence now we're gonna go see the special knot that we're gonna have on our fence now you guys are gonna notice a huge difference in this knot right here it's called the Titan knot and the Titan knot is the tornado wire signature knot that's what makes this the best wire in the world and that's why we're here we're here because of this little knot right here in that cool so this fence it's 13 strands of wire 190 centimeters which is around six foot how long six foot three and it's 15 centimeters wide which is about six inches in other words this square this gap that you can see in here and we get a little closer you can see it this is a six-inch fence and this is a deer fence right here too let's get you a little close-up on the wire and then we're gonna go see how all this stuff is tied alright let's talk again this is the little crimp in the wire okay and this helps to keep the wire tight from the heat and the cold the fluctuations in temperature this is the nut again this is the whole reason we're here so basically this wire crosses this wire this is one solid wire that's one solid wire and then this little piece of wire comes in here and ties the knot pretty interesting this is a little bit softer wire than these two wires very cool so the reason we're here and then we want this knot is because this is best for larger animals like cattle elk bison stuff like that so we want our fence to hold up and we want our fence to hold up for our lifetime we want to be able to pass this on to our children and let it hold up for their lifetime that's the quality of this tornado wire tell us who you are what do you do I'm a win I'm the production manager here at Oneonta wire and we're gonna go and look at interested stuff you've seen the finished product that's gone our locker sell this stuff such a made in a nutshell ISA live large weaving machines we got a raw material and we the machines okay I'll give you a bit more of an insight and stop coming right over okay guys gonna be loud in here we're going to the hinge joint first I'm just going to put you on the machine and let you sit we're going to slow the Machine down and we're going to do that with each machine and show you how they all work how everything turns through and I'll walk you through it so hearing protection eye protection and head protection in the warehouse is really really important guys see how he just ran out of wire right there there's a danger but that wire could pop up and swing around and hit you so you got to be really careful there reloading and hooking up another wire alright so what you're seeing right here is the wire coming off the spool it goes up into the rafters of the building through a pulley system and you can see that little dark spot that's the weld where they welded those two pieces of wire together basically these machines are just gigantic weaving knot-tying machines and each bundle comes off and is hand cut and hand processed and there's a lot of checks and balances in place here to make sure that the wire comes off right and the wire is put together right so machines don't do this this is all done by hand now you can see a new roll starting to get formed here we'll go around the other side and show you how the knots tied this is the roller part that crimps the wire you can see it kind of moving and putting the little crimp in the wire to help hold it tight now we're over here on the front side of the machine and you can see the wire goes through a tub of lubricant before it goes into the machine to keep it lubricated as it slides through this not time area right here this is the only one you can really see good for not time you can see how interesting the knot-tying system is we're going to slow it way down for you here in a second so you can just see how it's wrapped each little piece of wire comes through is twist it around and cut right there boom and twist it right around now this isn't like red brand if you look at red brand fence after this the stuff that you get your tractor supply you'll see that the twist is not as significant it's not as much of a twist it's not as much wire being used very high quality stuff now you can see how it's really just one piece of wire in between each one it's going to weave in here a new piece of wire lots of checks and balances here to make sure everything comes out perfect you see those little yellow marks that's a sensor so if I lean in too far it'll stop the machine pretty cool it wasn't for you guys I'd never be able to come and see something like this pound that like button if this is your first time to the channel subscribe to the channel you just never know where we're going to go it's so cool now the next night we're going to look at is the Taurus not this is an extra large roll of fencing wire for sheep or goats sheep are very popular here in the UK I think there are 32 million sheep here in the UK almost one half sheep per person in the United Kingdom a lot of cool stuff we've learned over here people walk talk and drive really fast and the roads are really narrow we're gonna go see the second not the tourist nut and how it's tied will also get you a little bit more detail on the fence and the crimps in the fence and how they're made so the thought process here guys is this smooth not it keeps wool from catching up and in other words it keeps the Sheep for the horses for this wire it keeps them from getting caught up in there so that thing I'm pointing to right there that yellow mark is the safety laser if I lean over in there to close the machine will stop you can see I'm pointing out the crimper up top it's pretty interesting how those little sleeves push and crimp the wire as it goes around we're uncovering where the knots tied you can't actually see the not being tied it's all kind of internal right here the wire feeds in from the side from the left and from the right and comes in and ties the knots on these really cool and that's the crimper a little close-up of it [Music] you can see the crimps right here and now smooth the wire comes out then this is a roll being pushed off and then this fellow will hand wrap that roll make sure it's all tight put a label on it then each roll of wire has a specific label on it so you can tell when it was made who made it how it was made and what wire went into it so if there's ever a problem they can trace it right down to the source and to the person that made the roll of wire really cool great checks and balances this is just the best wire made in the world now we're going to move on to the Titan not tire pretty cool each one of these machines is very very similar so I won't go through all the details on every machine we'll show you how that knots tied then we'll move on to the barbed wire section and then last of all we'll show you how the fence staples are made awesome now this is the tight nut this is the best not that they make this holds the wire tighter than any other knot and once again this is done internally too you can look down at the bottom there and see how it's spinning and tying a knot down through there but you just can't see it as it's working they had to disassemble these machines partially just to show us how this was made now you can see here this little apparatus slides back and forth and that's how they put the crimp in the wire very cool I hope y'all are finding this educational and entertaining I'm having a great time we flew 4,000 miles to see how the wire is made on our farm awesome and I hope you're enjoy meeting some other youtubers while we're over here really cool so guys we're here in the fence factory at the barbed wire area and the barbed wire here is on a four inch spacing it's a little bit tighter spacing than the u.s. spec wire so it's a better wire it's a high tensile barbed wire and we'll show you how they twist it and put the barbed on in other words they take raw product here pull it through twist it and put the barbed on interesting stuff and also something I didn't know where each barbed is on the fence the fence is pressed just a little bit so that barbed doesn't slide back and forth so if you've ever worked with barbed wire and you've seen the barbed sliding back and forth that's wrong that's not the way fencing is supposed to be built that's not the right way this is the right way so let me tell you what you're seeing here that press that's mashing down right there is putting a little crimp in where the barb goes on the wire very interesting machine really cool it's pretty simplistic looking as you can see it comes through and then it ties the barb on there and it cuts it and that's it there's a little press on one side that's pressing and the barb tire is tying and cutting the wire appropriately to make it sharp on the end pretty cool right here is where they take high tensile wire that comes through the factory and they put it on smaller spools like this so it can be easily handled in the field rad so now we're over here where the staples are being made we'll talk a little bit about the staples now some of these staples will have barbs in them and some of them won't you can see these staples right here they don't have a bar Benham pretty cool so the staples are made from an 8 gauge wire and they pull it off a real just like this it feeds into this machine and you can hear it just jumping like crazy and it's cutting the wire into the spec for the staple to make it sharp pretty cool let's get a close-up so in order to show you how this thing works exactly we have to open the Machine up so we have to stop the machine in order to do that and we're going to talk about each little apparatus inside this machine I hope you guys are enjoying this I'm learning so much today come across a little get closer come on here we are he's away you're coming through comes through a bunker straighten rollers goes for the feet chisels comes along into the flywheel as you can see the flywheel we've got cutters we've got benders pretty much it bends away yeah down the chute it goes if you need to have a barb on it it's a standalone barb device and they're right here these are Bob's into the book it it gets weird on the scales 20 kilograms 10 kilograms or five kilograms cool onto the palette so this is the cutting device this is the bending device the wire comes through it gets bent on the bender cut on the cutter drops back through here falls down and we're going to show you this all in just a second falls down right there slides down into the bucket the bucket is weighed on a scale right here it tells you how much it weighs fill the bucket up put it over here on a pallet for shipping so guys I hope you really enjoyed this tour of the fence factory I've never seen anything like this I've never been around anything like this SuperDuper awesome some hard-working guys here was really interested in how Lux and labor like hands-on checks and balances that they have here at tornado wire super cool the entire trip to the UK was just to see this fence wire I hope you guys had a blast pound that like button subscribe the channel we'll see you next time on the Stoney Ridge Farm all right [Music] dear sweet and some ways to bestow theory [Music] acted here we are live at tornado offices take fruit into it I introduce you to nut city finally what are you doing here so she's a bit tickled a tell us where you're from what do you do how long have you been here yep I'm not you're saying you put extra foundation on your head yeah I couldn't understand a word she said at all so you all in England right in the north of England they have a bit muddled an accent then they do in the South of England so I guess right true yeah so they're like the hillbillies of England up here yeah it's good stuff Mountain binney's sorry what's your name that's it what see is this the Irish Sea okay in the UK near the Baltic Sea I go hi I'm Stevie I'm the commercial director put them in a while hi I'm win I'm the doctor manager for tornado why you're pissed even Miller best American impressions let's go fishing let's go fishing everybody over here loves the whoo so guys here we are in the warehouse now these all right we're to Blair all right we're to all right yeah there's gonna be some great outtakes on this speak really loudly okay in louder funnier service will be 21 [Applause] he's got new teeth QT yeah near teeth Rosso vine come on [Music]
