What happens here

This video provides a detailed guide on upgrading kitchen sink water supply connections. It covers the complete removal of an old sink and its associated plumbing, including leaky saddle valves and old shut-off valves. The core of the project involves installing new copper piping with soldered tee fittings, followed by the installation of modern quarter-turn compression stop valves for the faucet, dishwasher, and refrigerator. The video emphasizes proper surface preparation, soldering techniques, and sealing for reliable, leak-free water supply connections.

Today we're going to be ripping out this sink and installing some new shut off valves. So come along. Let's get to fixing. This towel is soaked. There actually is a leak. This selftapping saddle valve right here that hooks up the fridge line actually made quite a mess. We're going to cut all this out. Redo it. Get that garbage disposal unplugged. Shut that off. That's going to kill the water. This is my main water shut off. Like it. Quarter turn valve. Shut her down. This hose bib is right below my kitchen sink. We'll turn that on. Then we'll go open up the faucet. Let all the water drain out. So these multi-torin handles are frozen. With the whole house being shut off, we don't have to worry about that. Now we can just disconnect the supply lines. Oh, that doesn't want to come off of that. Just chop that bad boy off there. Faucet ain't getting reused. Take off the dishwasher drain. Grab yourself something to put some water in. You're going to get a little bit somewhere. Those bolts out of there. Now it's time to get the garbage disposal out. You're going to pull clockwise on the body while pushing this ring counterclockwise and then it'll come apart. Get this nut right here off this basket strainer. Well, very surprised that that didn't leak with no washer on it. Very surprised. We're not going to be using this piece anymore. We can get that popped out of there. Take this right here to the back. So, now we've got space. We're able to get up around the edge of this sink to access the clips to remove the whole sink. And now with all these out, we're ready to remove the sink. Oh yeah, that didn't even we didn't even have to pop that or anything. It just was able to come right out. Okay, get that out of there. I'll grab a putty knife, shut the cabinets, clean off what appears to be old plumbers's putty. This looks like it's been leaking for a little bit. We will get all this cleaned up, use some spray cleaner, and get ready for the new sink install. And that turned out really nice. Now we're going to start on the water. Let's disconnect the poly tubing that goes to the fridge from the saddle valve. The these saddle clamps are nothing but trouble. You can see that it's leaking. It's rusted. And putting dissimilar metals together like this is only going to create a bigger issue. So this little Milwaukee cutter right here has been one of my favorite new little cool tools. just works really well. We got to stop putting freaking steel discussions on copper pipe. Like that should never be. There we go. I'm going to tuck this quarter inch tubing down in the hole a little bit to give myself some space to solder. Sometimes the paint's too thick on your pipe to sand. Grab a torch, burn it up. Then grab a brush, scrape that off, and then hit it with the sandpaper, your emery cloth again, and it's going to shine up pretty. Rem the inside of each pipe. Let's get all of our fittings clean. Today, I'm going to be going with copper mail adapters and thread on FIP quarter turn style stops. All right, I need six pieces of copper cut. We're going to go two inches each one. This is by far the easiest and fastest way to cut 1/2 inch, 3/4 in, and 1 inch copper pipe right here. If you're doing a lot of it, you're wanting one of these. Now we got to ream it all. To clean all these nipples, I'm going to use a 4 in1 cleaning brush. This is a great product that makes this job a lot simpler. Cleaning both nipples and fittings, 1/2 in and 3/4. If you guys need any of this stuff, I'll put links in the description box below. You can check out my link tree, check out my Amazon page. So, now we'll take all of our nipples and fittings. We will start fluxing these up, putting them in place, getting them ready to solder. With the flux, I'm always a big fan of the no corrode. At this point, I like to switch from my rubber gloves, put on jersey gloves. All right, so I'm going to grab my map gas with a torch head and some 955 solder, and we'll get this all soldered up and check it. That probably could use just a touch bit more. All right, putting these angle stops on. I like to use at least three wraps of Teflon, followed up with a little bit of Megalock. You always want to make sure there's no Teflon on your first thread. You don't want anything getting bunched up on the front side of this and causing any kind of blockage or anything like that. Okay. Mega lock right around the teflon. Doesn't have to be tons. I got a/2 in female adapter by 1/4 in for my fridge supply. I've got a 1/2 in FIP by 3/8 compression for the faucet straight stop. And I've got a 1/2 in by 3/8 compression angle stop. And this is going to be for the dishwasher. Grab my favorite adjustable jaw combo. These things are slim. All right. So, I started with the fridge line. We are going to face this angle stop down. Installed the straight stop for the cold side of the faucet. Over on the hot side, put in the dishwasher angle stop facing down and then installed the straight stop for the faucet. Get the water back up to the rest of the house. Slowly crack this open just till we hear it coming. Once I got water coming out of my hose bib upstairs, went back downstairs, opened the valve up the rest of the way, and everything is good to go. We are ready to be able to install our new sink. I really hope the videos are helping. Join us for part two. It's going to be coming out soon. Thank you folks very much. We'll see you again real
