Framers Got Kicked Out; Trying to Finish The Cabin (ep.5)

What happens here

After the main A-frame structure is complete, the focus shifts to framing the interior walls. The video highlights the unique challenge of framing around the A-frame's steep angles, particularly for the interior walls and gable overhangs. Specialized joist hangers with swivels are used to accommodate the 'aggressive angles' and secure the I-joists to the LVL beams. A lack of specific plan details for these areas means the crew has to adapt and make on-site decisions, aiming to maintain an open-concept design while ensuring structural integrity and passing inspections. The exterior sheathing is also installed on the side walls.

Goal: The crew frames the interior walls and addresses overhangs on the A-frame gables, utilizing specialized joist hangers with swivels due to the aggressive angles.

so it took the guys about 2 days to hang all of these long 32- Footers up there now they're start working on hanging off of the 14-in LVL coming over this e right here and this is the hangers that are going to attach to them these are crazy cuz you can't just go into Home Depot and buy these they have these swivels on them just because how aggressive these angles are they got got a bracket for everything that's slick so hopefully they get this banged out in about the rest of the day and then tomorrow they'll start working on building out that uh pocket that's holding that A-frame to the beam together kind of like the last part oh did I mention we're also 12 uh ey Joys short yeah the building Place didn't consider the overhang on that side of the Gable and overhang on this side of the Gable so fun Parts building a cust down aame oh we have our roofing metal roof coming up sitting completely flush with that we're going to have our siding material coming down here there's a little Gap here and then to cover that Gap the siding guys as this siding overlaps they're going to be able to use this tuby material to attach to the bottom here as the world's tiniest inch and a half soft we figured it out we figured it out so with the plans it doesn't show framing for the Gable but the image the rendering has a Gable and besides you need the Gable there to have that covering over when you open the front door uh through the dining room and the second thing the plans are not so clear on that we can't get clarity on is for the framing structure it's calling to have this wall come straight down let me get a wider image here so essentially where this top Plate's going it should drop down here but the renderings first of all there's no size on the plans for it and the rendering is showing that this is a completely wide openen concept and as soon as you bring those walls down on both sides this is now a closed concept and you don't get as crazy of a view so we decided to just keep this slant as it is to keep an open concept and just build that pony wall to the top um we'll see what the inspector Sayes cuz we're just following plans at this point architect signs off on it engineer sign signed off on it the city
