Fix stripped door hinge screws! thanks ZZem screw for sponsoring and supporting #repair #door

What happens here

If the hinge failure is on the door slab itself (e.g., the wood around the screws is torn out or severely stripped), shorter 1.5-inch Z-screws can be used to re-establish a strong connection. Install these Z-screws directly into the damaged wood of the door slab where the hinge attaches. The coarse threads of the Z-screws will create new, secure threads in the compromised wood. Then, reposition the hinge plate and drive the existing hinge screws into the new threads provided by the Z-screws. This technique is particularly effective for hollow core doors where traditional wood repair might be difficult.

Goal: Repair severely stripped hinge screw holes on the door slab using shorter Z-screws.

Tools and materials

  • Cordless Drill/Driver Makita — Driving screws
  • Driver Bit — Engaging with the screw head
  • 1.5-inch Z-Screws — Providing a strong anchor point into the door slab
  • Existing Door Hinge Masonite — The component being re-secured
  • Existing Door Hinge Screws — Securing the hinge to the Z-screws/door
